Back to Home

This is my third visit to St. Mathew since the built their new temple. My relationship with this parish goes back to 1989 when a friend asked me to visit the parish and I promised that I would do so on a certian date. When I was unable to do so, the next time he saw me, he reminded me of my promise and I really faelt like a heel. So I came up on another date, but he did not know that I was coming.

At that time, I was also in the Air Force Reserves and my military job was chapel manager. So when I arrived at the location at Fort Meade, I helped to set up for the Liturgy and afterward helped to prepare for the next service. Of course, this was also reported in my monthly report to my unit.

I also served at St. Matthew when they were at their two previous locations to the temple. On one occasions, Fr. Duane was ordained a deacon and I was one of the two subdeacons who took part in this ordination.

I visited this temple twice in the past. The first time was to hear Archbishop Lazar and the second time was for Sunday of Orthodoxy. There are photos of both occasions on this site.
