Orientation at Y of Central Maryland

Orientation was a busy day, but a day full of fun and excitement. Special thanks go to the Baltimore City Public Schools police officers assigned to our building. They were fantastic and went well above the call of duty to make sure that the day was successful. They both receive my vote for police officer of the year, not only for their help on this day, but also for all the other times that we were fortunate to encounter them.

Breakfast and lunch were served and there was plenty of food for everybody. And it was quality food. Prizes were also awarded. I took home a pocket calculator which I now keep in my camera bag. I won it when I was able to name the CEO of Y of Central Maryland. I just heard his name a few days earlier at the Martin Luther King breakfast.

Besides Orientation to the Y, we also had Child Abuse Prevention and AIrbourne and Patrogen Disease awareness. In addition, there was a Fatherhood Initiatve going on at the same time.

There were a couple of skits whicih were fantastic. One skit was written and presented within a period of about 15 minutes. And they made the point very well. Another skit concerned hiding hurt feelings. The participants were asked to write down one feeling that they try to hide and they step on it and walk around with it under their foot. Then a second one was added and they had to walk around with one under each foot. Then a third was added and they had to move around with a hand covering that one.
